Being on a diet is hard for those of us that love desserts. What if I told you that you can still diet and indulge in healthy desserts too. Here’s my favorite diet dessert.
Now, for me, the ultimate dessert will satisfy my need for something sweet and usually includes chocolate. It also needs to be fairly quick and easy to make. If it’s an easy healthy no bake dessert AND it’s chocolate, then I’ve found a winner. Now, if you don’t like chocolate, keep reading though because I offer some variations to this recipe that you might like.
Looking for a delicious chocolate mousse recipe that is delicious and low in sugar and high in protein. No, I’m not talking about the avocado mousse that everyone is raving about currently. Healthy Chocolate Mousse
The first time I read this recipe, I was intrigued but I wasn’t sure. After I read the ingredient list I knew I had found a healthy dessert idea for weight loss. It didn’t have lots of sugar or carbs and it uses a high protein base. Most of the ingredients you should have or they are easy to pick up from the grocery store. I did make one modification to my recipe so it does use a different ingredient that is from Youngevity. healthy desserts
For this recipe you need:
- Cottage cheese. You can use low fat or regular (use regular if you are on a keto diet)
- A Nut Butter – Almond Butter, Peanut Butter (Nuts should be the ONLY ingredient, maybe oil but NO SUGAR!)
- Cocogevity or unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- Vanilla Extract
I’ve made this recipe with both cocoa powder and Cogogevity and I prefer the taste with the cocogevity. Cocogevity is a healhty dark chocolate sauce that has a fruit blend that gives it a nice flavor. It does have a small amount of sugar but totals about 19 calories. healthy desserts
I find the cocoa gives the recipe a “bite” and the cocogevity gives it a smooth flavor. I would suggest ordering a bottle as it will last you a while. It’s also great poured over ice cream or fresh fruit. Here’s the nutrition label.
You’ll need a food processor, a spatula and some small containers or dishes. I LOVE my Ninja food processor. It is so versatile and makes this recipe super fast and easy. If you don’t have one, check this one out. I have had mine for a few years and use it regularly for pureeing, chopping, and of course smoothies. I have the one that has a pitcher and a small processor jar similar to the picture here.
You should be able to get it for around $50. If you can find it for around $30, you should grab it. That’s a great deal! healthy desserts
Recipe for Faux Chocolate Mousse
- 1 cup of cottage cheese
- 1-2 tbsp cocoa powder or Cocogevity
- 2 tbsp nut butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Swerve to taste
Put the cottage cheese, Cocogevity/cocoa powder, nut butter, vanilla and Swerve into your Ninja/food processor. Pulse until mixed. healthy desserts
Put into serving dishes or 1/2 cup containers. This recipe makes 2 servings. You can easily double it and then divide it into 4 of these awesome containers to store in the fridge for a quick dessert.
I did not list an amount of Swerve since everyone’s tastebuds are different. I dont’ want it really sweet, but I’ve kind of trained my sweet tooth. If you need a sweet dessert, start with 1-2 tablespoons. If it’s not sweet enough, fold in more.
I also suggest using the confectioner’s style of Swerve since it will mix in better and be less grainy than the granular type.
It’s difficult to find in stores where I live and it’s about $10-$12 for a bag, so I usually order it from Amazon where it’s a little cheaper – around $8-$9 a bag.

Is Chocolate not your Jam? Try these options:
Faux Pumpkin Pie
Leave out the cocogevity/cocoa powder and add pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon.
Use the recipe as above but do not use cocoa powder or vanilla. Add 1-2 teaspoons of Lemon extract. Beat some whipping cream (Sweetened with Swerve) for a delicious lemon dessert!
Add 1 teaspoon of freeze-dried coffee crystals to the recipe above. healthy desserts
