Ebates is now Rakuten
Recently Ebates changed its name to Rakuten, so I have updated this post to reflect the name change and some great features that were added. rakuten ebates review
Hey beautiful! Just gonna jump in real quick to let you know that this post may contain affiliate links. This means that if you purchase a product I recommend through one of my links then I may earn a small commission at no cost to you. Full disclosure here.
What is Rakuten Ebates
Ebates, which is now called Rakuten, is cashback website that lets you earn money while shopping online. It is one of the largest member-based savings programs with over 10 million users who have earned over $800 million in cash back savings. There are lots of cash back programs, but I believe Rakuten Ebates has been around the longest and is the most well known.
How to use Rakuten Online
We are a community of shoppers. We love to shop – both online and off. So, Rakuten Ebates has affiliate relationships with thousands of stores and when you shop at these stores, they will literally pay you to shop. That’s right! They give the savings back to you, the shopper. So, my son recently headed off to college. I used Rakuten Ebates to shop online at Bed, Bath & Beyond for some of his college gear. Shopping through the app allowed me to earn cash back on those items I needed.
And in Stores
You can also earn cash back in some “brick & mortar” stores. Yep! Remember my college son? There was an item we needed but couldn’t get it online, so off to the store we went. You can link your payment card to your Rakuten Ebates account and earn cash back for your in-store purchases too. Keep in mind in-store is not available at every store, so check the app before you shop.
Also, in store connections aren’t permanent so if you shop frequently you may need to “reconnect” your Rakuten Ebates to your payment card on a regular basis. This takes a little planning ahead as I’ve missed a few in-store purchases because I forgot to link it to my payment card ahead of time. ebates review
Best Rakuten Tip
I save the best for last! Be SURE to download the Rakuten Ebates toolbar (for Chrome, which I use, Firefox or Internet Explorer) on your computer. Not only does it notify you when you are shopping at a site with an online rebate, but it will also go out and find all existing COUPONS available and apply all it can to find you the best savings! It’s like having a savings genie on your browser! I saved over $30 one weekend printing photos at Walgreens thanks to this toolbar! ebates review
Another thing to look for is special bonus amounts (so the cash back will be 6% instead of the usual 2%) that are per store and usually around holidays or busy times like back to school. Some stores will double their percent back and some will add coupons, or do both.
Feel like you’ve GOT to have Rakuten Ebates now? Use this link to sign up. When you sign up, you’ll receive $10 – and you can earn up to $35 for each friend you refer! Now that’s a sweet deal. Who doesn’t want to help their fellow fashionistas save money?
To get your big fat check (that’s what they call it) you must have a minimum of $5. You can either receive a check in the mail or have the money transferred into your paypal account. It couldn’t be any easier! Now, that you know how – go save some money. You know what they say – The more you spend the more you save!
